High Clay Gold Washing Plant

Guide for Selecting Ore Washing Equipment for Highly Viscous Ore Slime (Clay, Mud-Covered Stone)

Primary main equipment

Cylindrical ore washer (Rotary Scrubber) ✅ [Preferred for strong clay and large ore pieces]

Silt content ranging from 15% to 40%, strong viscous mud clumps, mud-covered stones, with a maximum feed size of 250mm; placer gold, manganese ore, iron ore, tin ore, and weathered crust ores. Principle: The cylinder rotates at low speed, causing the ores to tumble and collide with each other, undergoing self-grinding. Coupled with high-pressure water spray, this process breaks down the hard mud clumps and removes the thick mud layer from the ore surface. Advantages: Strong mud-breaking capability, less prone to material blockage; can be designed as an integrated ore washing and screening machine, with a built-in screen cylinder at the rear for direct separation of mud and stones; minimal ore over-crushing and lightening.

Double helix trough scrubber (trough scrubbing machine)✅ [medium lumpiness, high plasticity clay]

The trough scrubber is suitable for processing materials with a size of up to 75mm, handling viscous and finely fragmented mud clusters, and requires continuous stirring, shearing, and dispersing of the mud slurry. It is also suitable for processing manganese ore, barite, and lead-zinc oxide ore.

Principle: The intermittent blades provide strong agitation, shearing and tearing the mud clumps, while the overflow carries away the fine mud. The spiral conveyor pushes the clean ore upward for discharge.

Advantages: High scrubbing force, long residence time; lower equipment cost compared to cylindrical ore washers.

Key practical operation points (to avoid incomplete cleaning and machine blockage)

  1. High-pressure spray water (water pressure ≥ 0.2 MPa) must be provided, as fully soaking clay with clean water makes it easier to dissociate;
  2. Do not directly use a regular vibrating screen for viscous slime, as the slime clumps may clog the screen mesh;
  3. Try to remove weeds and tree roots from the ore in advance to prevent them from tangling with the screw and blocking the cylinder;
  4. The mud backend is equipped with a hydraulic cyclone/desliming bucket to separate fine mud and prevent it from flowing back and polluting the finished ore.

A quick summary: For ore agglomeration, thick slime, mud-covered stones, and large lump size, choose a cylindrical ore washer; for ore with smaller particle size, fine slime, and a general budget, choose a double spiral groove ore washer.
