Our company possesses comprehensive technology for the entire process of ilmenite beneficiation plants in Africa, revealing how to transform “dormant ore” into “black gold wealth” that drives industrial upgrading.
African ilmenite: The “new growth pole” of the global supply chain
Core technology: Unlocking the “purification code” of ilmenite
African ilmenite is mostly found in coastal placer deposits or polymetallic coexistent ores, with fine dissemination size and complex associated minerals. Therefore, a combined process of “gravity separation + magnetic separation + flotation” is required to achieve efficient separation of ilmenite from minerals such as gangue, iron, and zircon.
Pre-treatment stage: The raw ore is coarsely crushed to 50-100mm by a jaw crusher, then finely crushed to 10-20mm by a cone crusher, and finally ground to -200 mesh with a ball mill, achieving a proportion of 65%-75%, ensuring the monomer dissociation of ilmenite.
Fractional purification: After desliming and impurity removal, roughing is achieved through a spiral chute (particle size of 0.02-0.3mm), which increases the titanium grade from 3%-5% to 15%-20%, with a recovery rate of 75%-85%.
Core separation: After removing iron through low-intensity magnetic separation, a vertical ring high gradient magnetic separator (with a field strength of 0.8-1.2T) is used to precisely capture weakly magnetic ilmenite, with a tailings discarding rate exceeding 60%. Fine-grained materials are supplemented with flotation process, and a composite collector is used to enhance the concentrate grade.
Refined dehydration: The spiral sand washer is used for dehydration, ultimately producing high-quality titanium concentrate with a TiO₂ grade of ≥48%, meeting the production standards for high-end coatings and titanium dioxide.
From African coastal placer deposits to high-end manufacturing materials, ilmenite beneficiation plants serve as a crucial hub connecting resources and value. The core technology of ilmenite beneficiation in Africa and the layout of high-quality mineral resources
The re-election process mainly utilizes the difference in specific gravity between ore components. The equipment used in the ilmenite reselection process mainly includes spiral chutes and shaking tables. Due to the complex composition of titanium iron ore, which contains easily selectable minerals such as kaolinite and quartz, as well as difficult to select vein minerals such as trihydrate alumina, the use of gravity separation technology to separate titanium iron ore requires the combination of spiral chutes and shaking tables.
